READ

READ READ READ READ READ. Vampire novels are especially compelling.

Off with the TV. Put the PC/laptop down to a moderate use. Now, pick up that good ol' paperback and GET TO IT!

I've rediscovered the wonders of literature. I read the Twilight series, went "urr..." and dropped out. Then I forced myself off the couch to find a decent Vamp YA Romance novel (or another series!). Not that Twilight wasn't decent... okay, yes, it was decent - but those characters... ARGH! *chokes a bellaXedward doll*.

Now, where was I? Oh, right. Vampire Academy by Richelle Mead... what did I say on that other site...?
...FOUND IT! :

Rose Hathaway - asskicking badass. Definitely NOT a "Bella".
She's not (excessively) obsessive, either.

Dimitri - not a commandeering BEEP of an Edward... hey, he also does the whole "we can't be together, it's not right thing", doesn't he? Well... it's a valid reason. AND he doesn't say "you shouldn't/can't love me even though I wuv you so very muuuuch!".

Mason... ah, dear Mason... why the heck doesn't he get a happy-Jacob-like ending? (*coughmiacough*)

*sigh* I loved it. Wasn't written breathtakingly well, but - these are the thoughts of a teen, teens can understand it easily... and the characters have depth to them. They're realistic! Okay, yes, sometimes they can be whiny, annoying, superficial and shallow... but aren't we all, to a certain extent?

See? It's not impossible to find an awesome set of vamp tales... well, vamp tales that are so incredibly cheesy, stereotypical and cliched (where's the damn accent key?!!) that they make you... wish for the option of regurgitation.

So now I'm all for good reads. YA ones especially. Specifically ones relating to the paranormal... and romance.

...And if I'm all for good reads, then you should be too. Hop onto Amazon, get your credit card ready, and go buy a nice book you're interested in. (Once again, I emphasize the awesomeness of vamp novels.)
